The song I listen to the most changes from time to time but my all time favorite song is Amarillo by Morning by George Strait. The purpose of the song is to tell a story. Strait tells the story of traveling through Texas and the emotions and consequences that go with the job he has. The audience he is trying to appeal to is people who are in the same business that he is, people who like country music, and people who are traveling. I know I like to listen to this song on a long road trip. The artist uses ethos and pathos to as rhetorical appeals. He uses Ethos because while telling his story he is perceived as credible because his appearance and demeanor depict him as a Cowboy. The writer uses pathos to convey emotions in people by using song lyrics that relate to his target audience. He sets an adventurous and reflective mood to connect with the audience. The stories and small anecdotes of him traveling through Texas are supposed to connect with people and that’s why the style reflects with the content. The genre conventions are a country setting and it meets them because it is an interval part of the song.
